blown perfect game

Armando Galarraga was one out away from the 21 perfect game in th history of baseball before umpire Jim Joyce blew a call at first base and cost him baseball immortality.

Everyone will have seen the replay by tomorrow morning and its clear that he was safe. Even Joyce after viewing the replay admits that the call was wrong. So why not just reverse the call. I don’t think the Indians will care and anyone who protests is certainly an asshole. So I say give the kid his perfect game.  Even though it was against the Indians it still is a hell of a feat. Jim Joyce  might as well retire or resign because he will be booed in every venue in the country for causing irreparable damage to the game.

Big mouth Braden pitches a perfect game

26 Year old Dallas Braden threw the first perfect game for the A’s in 40 years. The last was by the great Catfish Hunter in 1968 against the Twins. He did it in 109 pithes and had six strikeouts. The last perfect game to be thrown was also against the Rays by Mark Berlehe last summer.

Braden is best known for yelling at A-Rod for running across the mound while returning to the Dug out. What really made him mad is that Arod shrugged it off like he was overreacting. First off he was overreacting, secondly if you are a 26 year old nobady you dont yell at the best player in the game. At the end of Bradens perfect game he apparently hugged his grandmother to which Aj Burnett watching in the Yankees Clubhouse yelled, don’t run over his mound granny.

Congrats to Braden for throwing a perfect game unfortunately it doesnt remove your label as being a loud mouth Douche. It just makes you a loud mouth douche that can pitch.

The worst at bat in the history of baseball

The worst at bat in the history of baseball overshadows a brilliant performance by Cliff Lee. In His return to baseball after starting the season on the DL Lee Pitched seven scoreless innings only allowing three hits and striking out eight. All this was for not as Eric Byrnes has the worst at bat in the history in the eleventh inning. With the bases loaded Ichiro on third and one out the sign came to lay down the squeeze bunt. For those of you who don’t know what this is as the pitch is thrown Ichiro will be running from third. Byrnes job is to put the bat on the ball NO MATTER WHAT! Or at least make every effort to do so. As the pitch was thrown Byrnes squared to bunt and  instead of making contact with the ball he pulled the bat back leaving Ichiro out to dry. So as if the caught stealing wasnt enough Byrnes ended up striking out to end the inning. So in Summery with one out and the bases loaded and the fastest man in baseball on third Byrnes was responsible for single handedly ended the inning and probably cost them the game as the Rangers scored twice in the 12th inning.  I have never heard of anyone else ever pulling the bat back on a squeeze play not even in little  league. So congratulations MR Byrnes you have etched your spot in baseball History as the owner of the worst at bat ever.

Don’t sleep on the Rays!

The American League East is starting out in a crazy way this season.  Sure Baltimore is at the bottom of the heap like always, no surprise there. However, The Blue Jays and the Red Sox are locked in 3rd place with a 10-11 record. Not the scorching start Bostonians had in mind. The most glaring statistic is that with a 12-7 record and winning their first 5 out of 6 series The Bronx Bombers are still only in second place. The Tampa Bay Rays are holding down the top spot with a 15-5 record. They are hotter then Oliva Wilde right now. Of course it’s early. Of course everything could be different in a month. Say what you will, right now the Tampa Bay Rays are the team to beat.

If we take a closer look at the Rays you can see that their winning ways are no fluke. They are clearly talented earning a trip to the World Series two short years ago. Twenty games into the season and the Rays lead the AL East in Runs, RBI, Stolen Bases, and are tied for first in batting average.  Not to shabby. They are winning games with their bats right now.

Don’t worry though they are also winning games with their arms as well.  They lead the entire American League in wins. They are tops in the AL East in ERA and except for the Yankees have let up the least amount of hits. Pretty solid all the way around.

I am not an expert on anything but I do know that if you score more runs then everyone and let up the fewest you are going to win about 15 out of your first 20 games ya heard! Will the Rays fall off? It’s sure possible. Do they have some turmoil right now? sure. Their catcher Dioner Navarro was just suspended two games for making contact with an umpire. That is the type of distraction that can really affect a team over the marathon season if it keeps happening.

All in all don’t sleep on the Tampa Bay Rays. They are tearing it up right now and are playing as well as anyone in the big leagues.

Where are the feared Red Sox

Before the season began all I kept hearing is how much better the Red Sox were going to be this year and that they were what was standing in the Yankees way of repeat championships.

Now I know the season is very young and I know that they will be in the mix of things come playoff time so lets not even go there. Where we will go is the back end of the rotation. With Dice K on the DL I actually have to go look up who the Red Sox forth and fifth starters are. Wait here……… Bucholtz and Wakefield. Bucholtz I cant say to many bad things about he has good stuff and when he gets the green out from behind his ears I think he is going to be very good. But Wakefield? I cant believe this guy is still pitching. Beckett (their Ace) has only 1 win in three starts , Lester is 0-2  8.44 ERA, and Lackey is 1-1 5.63. If this continues thats not going to get it done. Getting Swept by the Rays after losing two out of three to the Twins has Boston at the bottom of the pack looking up. At 4-9 they are 6 games out of first.

Good news Boston fans, You have a cake schedule ahead of you. The next twelve games are against Texas,Baltimore, and Toronto (who aren’t as easy as they look on paper . Its tough to say the Red Sox are in trouble this early in the year but if they go 4-8 in the next twelve I may reconsider.  Im still sticking with my earlier pick that its a two team race between the Yankees and the Rays for the AL East.

Carl Crawford is wicked awesome

Carl Crawford has stated that he needs to focus on the business at hand this season. Its hard to do with reporters asking him about becoming a free agent at the end of the season. Crawford has stated that it wont be a distraction and it hasn’t been. He proved it again it again tonight at Baltimore where he went 4 for 4 with a HR. On the season Crawford is  batting .375 with 7 RBI and a HR. Now I know its very very early in the year but he is already putting fear into opposing pitchers when he steps up to the plate and opposing catchers whenever he is on the basepads.

Crawford becoming a free agent will be the talk of the town after this years world series. The question is which town will he be the talk of? We all have a pretty good Idea where he will land but during the process there will be a few other citys that never  sleep as well.

I thought this was a joke

I do solomly swear im an idiot

This made me literally laugh out loud. Apparently Barry Bonds has said that he is proud of Mark MaGuire for coming forward and admitting his steroid use. I cant even come up with a smart ass analogy that compares this idiocy to anything.  I guess it would be like Iran congradulating North Korea for disarming their nukes, even that is not as funny.

Both of these guys are cheating bums. I gotta believe that much of this is comprised as a side show.Kinda like the WWE pay per view stuff. If the whole thing is legit with Mcguire being the hitting coach and Bonds being the baseball hero that supports him that is just down right embarrassing for them and the St Louis Cardinals.
