Josh Hamilton should play in a bubble

February 24, 2010

josh running the basesJosh  Hamilton needs to be the boy in a bubble. Every time I turn around it seems the guy is getting hurt. Luckily this time its nothing serious as he left spring training drills today with a shoulder contusion. Apparently the injury happened while running down a fly ball.

“I just fell and landed on my shoulder and bruised my shoulder,” Hamilton said. “We’ll give it 12 to 24 hours and see how it goes.”

Josh had various injury’s in 2009 that limited him to just 89 games. The Rangers are hoping that a healthy Hamilton will produce results similar to his 2008 campaign when he batted .304 with 32 Homers and 130 RBI’s.  Hamilton is listed as day to day.

Rays’ Pena breaks 2 fingers, done for season

Rays’ Pena breaks 2 fingers, done for season

58118188When I think of Carlos Pena I think of Jason Giambi. A pure slugger that can’t hit for average. Pena is batting in the .230’s but leads the AL in HR with 39 and has 100 RBI’s. Unfortunately he will not have the opportunity to win the AL Home Run title as two broken fingers have ended his season. Mark Texieria of the Yankees will almost certainly take that title as well as most RBI’s. It will be a three horse race for the AL MVP  Texieria, Mauer, Jeter. My vote goes to Jeter but unfortunately I don’t have a vote.

His whole broken finger thing got me thinking, who else could the Rays get in the off-season that could match his production for cheap in case he is unable to play at the same level again after having two fingers snapped in half.

My thought is Shelly Duncan. He is basically the same guy and I’m sure the Rays have enough minor league talent to get him away from the Yankees, Just a thought.

Anyhow Carlos sorry to hear about your broken digit but a 95mph fastball to the hand is no joke. Even worse they said he swung so he didn’t even get to take his base. Now thats Bad Luck.

Youkilis, Porcello suspended 5 games for brawl

Youkilis, Porcello suspended 5 games for brawl

dirtybastardFive games is not even close to justice for the dirty play of Kevin Youkilis. If you can’t take it like a man and play the game right you shouldn’t be playing it at all. Now if Porcello had been flapping his gums at Kevin after hitting him it would be a little different. Not justified but not as  dirty as Youks actions were. Porcello was backing away and Youk went after him anyhow. Then he says he has no regrets for his actions. He should be suspended for at least 10 days if not the rest of the regular season. At the very least he should show some remorse for attacking another professional athelete. He’s Dirty and he should be punished not slapped on the wrist.

Phils’ Moyer ‘disheartened’ by move to bullpen

Phils’ Moyer ‘disheartened’ by move to bullpen

Marlins Phillies BaseballShould we all be surprised that the 22 year  veteran who has a record of 256-194 is upset about being moved to the bull pen.  We should ask  why this has happened. Oh yeah because they have signed the 37 year old Pedro Martinez whos middle name has been “disabled list sense” 2005. You know, the guy that nobody else wanted to sign because of the risk. The guy that had an ERA of 5.15 against minor league hitters during his rehab starts this year.

Jamie Moyer may not be having the season that he had last year but he does have double digit wins and should have earned a certain amount of respect over the years.

Instead of moving him to the bull pen so hastily perhaps he should have just been skipped  in the rotation in favor of Pedro to see how it goes. Then if he doest fall flat on his face make a decision. However Pedro is no sure thing by any stretch of the imagination and there is more than a good possibility he will look more like the Smoltz of 2009 than the Pedro of 1999. When this happens than they are in the unique position of having already pissed Moyer off.

Report: Manny, Ortiz had positive tests in 2003

Report: Manny, Ortiz had positive tests in 2003

david-ortiz_0The Manny thing is no big surprise to anyone being that he just came off a 50 day suspension for it. But the David Ortiz thing is a bit more intriguing.

Ok the first thing that I find Helarious is when he says the announcement that he tested positive blindsided him . Then he went on to say “I want to talk about this situation and I will as soon as I have more answers. In the meantime I want to let you know how I am approaching this situation. One, I have already contacted the Players Association to confirm if this report is true. I have just been told that the report is true. Based on the way I have lived my life, I am surprised to learn I tested positive.”Two, I will find out what I tested positive for. And, three, based on whatever I learn, I will share this information with my club and the public. You know me — I will not hide and I will not make excuses.”

Ok MR. Papi if you want to keep it real here is my one, two , three of it all . One the only thing you are shocked about is that the report ever came out. Two, you know what you tested positive for because you were the dummy who took it, Three, don’t stand there and insult everyones intelligence by acting all surprised and saying you that you wont hide anything or make excuses. Seems to me you have already been hiding the fact that you cheated for six years.

Ok A-rod did the whole I never used steroids thing for a while and it was a lie. We all get it, but at least when he was caught he came clean and said what he did when he did it how he did it and for how long he did it. David Ortiz is gonna stand there and say  What?, I tested positive for drugs, Let me go find out if its true, than let me find out what i tested positive for. BLAH BLAH BLAH. Bottom line you cheated because you sucked. Hell you were non -tendered by the Twins because you sucked so bad. Then suddenly you became this great power hitter. Than the heat was a bit to much so you stopped taking them. Now you suck again. Don’t insult us your fans by deceiving  them ,they are to smart for that. Come clean about the drugs and come clean about being surprised about the drugs. When Jose Consaco was asked for a comment he simply said” Tell me something I didn’t already know”

Halladay2

Yes folks you guessed it if this is serious then it is the official end of any chance the blue jays had at making the playoffs this year. The Jays without holiday is like happy days without the Fonz.

We got your back Tom Glavine

June 3, 2009

As Tom Glavine and the BTFP readers can see. Mike and Genevosey both have Tom’s back. The Atlanta Braves are Money Whores and they have disgusted us so much today we both wrote about Tom’s dilemma at the same time.

Tom we both hope some team signs you soon, hopefully in the NL east so you can rub their greedy faces in it with a no hitter.
