Beckett signs extension

The Boston Red Sox and Josh Beckett have agreed to a four year 68 million dollar deal. The deal puts Beckett, Lakey, Lester and Bucholtz under team control until 2014. Beckett also has no trade protection two three teams  two of which he can choose and a 5 million dollar signing bonus.

The deal will pay Josh 15,75 million a year from 2011-2014.  By agreeing to the deal after the start of the season the team saves on Luxury tax. The Red Sox also have no injury protection with this contract as they do with Lakeys.

I will be honest Im not a big fan of Beckett. I think he is overatted and now he will be overpaid. He has  problems  keeping the ball in the park and this my friends will ultimately be his undoing. Mark my words friends the Red Sox will regret this extension.
