Cliff Lee to has surgery

clifflee Not to worry Mariner fans the 2008 CY Young award winner will only be sidelined for two to three weeks. Lee had a bone spur break loose in his left foot and went home to Arkansas to have it removed.

Cliff Lee is currently still working on his regular upper body stuff and does not have a cast. The Mariners made the decision to have the surgery as soon as possible to avoid any discomfort during the regular season. Lee will be able to slowly return to regular pitching activities over the next two to three weeks.

Lee was good with the Phillies after a mid season trade in 2009. He went 7-4  with an Era of 3.39. He was even better during the Playoffs going 4-0 with an ERA of 1.56 and recorded both of Philadelphia’s wins during the world series. Lee has one year and $9 million left on his contract before he gets his big pay day. At only 31 years of age he is hitting his stride at just the right time. I’m predicting he gets  a contract somewhere in the area of 5 Years 90 million dollars from some lucky team. The Mariners may not be able to afford him being that they already have Felix Hernandez as their ace in the whole. So who will it be? Red Sox? Yankees? Mets? Perhaps a trip to the west coast with the Angels or Dodgers. My guess is that the Angels will go hard after him being that their rotation is decimated with the Loss of John Lackey but the Red Sox and the Yankees can never be left out of any conversation when you are talking about great pitchers.
