Yankees take commanding series lead

angeltrouble The Yankees 4-3 13th inning win not only puts the Yankees in the drivers seat but guarantees that there will be a return to Yankee stadium.

Just when things looked grim for the Yankees, down by 1 run in the bottom of the 11th and facing the American Leagues saves leader in Brian Fuentes, Alex Rodriguez was the Hero again hitting an 0-2 fastball into the stands to keep the game alive. The battle of the bullpens continued into the 13th until a throwing error allowed Jerry Hairston Jr to score the winning run.  Error and sloppy play have cost the Angels the first two games.

Even with the series moving to LA a 2-0 deficient is difficult to climb out of. Not impossible as the Red Sox showed us in 2004 but difficult. Tomorrows game is crucial. If the Angels lose than they are in big trouble, all the pressure is resting squarely on their shoulders.

Personally I don’t see this series going back to NY. I think the Yankees will wrap this thing up on Thursday. I predict that the Angels  will win tomorrow but lose on Tuesday and on Thursday. I’m still hoping for a Yankees vs Dodgers world series. A return of Joe Torre to the Bronx to face his previous team will make for better TV than Yankees vs Phillies.

Tomorrow its Andy Pettite that takes the mound hoping to take over the record of most post season wins. He will be facing  Jared Weaver who is coming of a dominate performance in the ALDS against Boston going  7. 1 innings of one run ball in a 4-1 victory. However the Yankees arent the Red Sox and A-Rod seems unstoppable after the 7th inning and always seems to come to bat with the game on the line. Unlike previous years , this year he delivers.
