Roy Halladay vs. the best team in baseball round 3

johnnydamon1 Statistically nobody thinks facing Roy is much of a Holiday. Except maybe Johnny Damon who is a lifetime .340 hitter against him with 3 HR’s . Yes it looks grim for the Yankees tonight who bring Sergio Mitre to the mound. I know, why the hell is he still in pinstripes. The one great start that he had against the White Sox has somehow earned him his spot in the Rotation. If he makes the Post season roster than we have to believe that he has blackmail photos of Joe and Brian kissing or something because he is awful. In 41 innings he has given up 61 hits and walked 11 for an ERA of 7.02. Here is a look at tonight’s starting lineup:

Jeter SS
Damon LF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Matsui DH
Posada C
Cano 2B
Swisher RF
Gardner CF

Pitching: RHP Sergio Mitre (3-2, 7.02).

I would have to say this is the Yankees best available line up. However I would like to see  Shelly Duncan get another start at DH. I also am hoping to see Guzman pitch run tonight, the boy can really fly.

Andy Pettitte is being skipped in his next start due to a sore shoulder. The Yankees are downplaying it and hopefully its not a big deal at all. He will have 9 days rest before his next start.

The Yankees magic number is now 12.

If the Yankees can just get into Toronto’s weak bull pen than they have a decent shot of winning. If the same Roy Halladay shows up that pitched against the Yankees last time it might be a long night. Enjoy the game and check out more Yankees stuff at Http://yankeesmagazine.wordpress.com
