One mans trash

large_berroa321The Mets activated recently acquired utility infielder Angel Berroa yesterday. Berroa was recently released by cross-town rival NY Yankees after getting just 3 hits in 22 games. Angel had a strong spring with the Yankees but didn’t get the call up from Scranton until Injury made it a necessity. I had the Pleasure of meeting Angel during his time with the Scranton/Wilkes Barre. He was a nice guy but I think my Spanish is rusty. He either said it’s a pleasure to meet you or how long before the Banjo player comes, not sure really.

Berroa was the Rookie of the year in 2003 With the Kansas City Royals beating out Hideki Matsui of the Yankees. Sense then he has gotten progressively worse and has not played a full season sense 2005.Seems to me a classic case of a gifted athlete that thought he didn’t have to work hard. With the Mets star Short Stop Jose Reyes on the disabled list, the Mets are hoping he will provide some offensive backup for Alex Cora who has been filling in for Reyes. I don’t know what else to say except,” ARE YOU KIDDING ME” This guy is junk and has been for the better part of the last 10 years. However he would be a good fit for the Buffalo Bisons ,their Minor League affiliate.
