On the Road

acevesBTFP took another road trip today. This visit was to Frontier Field in Rochester NY to see the Rochester Red Wings ( The Twins AAA) vs Scranton-Wilkesbury Yankees. A Yankees game is fin even when its a AAA game there are so many big names in even their minor league line-up. Guys like Shelly Duncan, Angel Berroa, Alfredo Aceves make up probably the best line-up in the Minors.

Alfredo Aceves (who signed my cap before the game) was very good going  6.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out six in a 6-2 Yankees win. He threw 83 pitches, 63 for strikes and got his first win while cutting his season ERA nearly in half, from 10.00 to 5.74.

Future Yankees superstar Austin Jackson can fly. He hit a tripple in the eighth and I kid you not was around second base before the CF could pick the ball up and it didn’t get by him by much. Another star of this one was Todd Linden who went 3-5 moving his hitting streak up to nine games.

The Wings got a little excitment out of the crowd in the bottom of the ninth against  Eric Wordekemper in relief of Anthony Claggot who looked a little sharper than he did the other day in relief of Wang in his short one day stint with the NY Yankees. But it was all for not as the Baby Bombers are the hottest team in the minors at 13-1. Probably because their line up is better than at least 5 that I can think of in the Majors.
