King Felix Pitches Gem to give Mariners 1-0 win.

felixhernandez_2007_009 In what was an Epic pitching duel between Felix Hernandez and Rays Pitcher James Shields, Ichiro Suzuki took the second pitch of the game yard for the only run of the two excellent performances. King Felix was just a little better.

Hernandez  allowed four hits and three walks. He struck out seven in his first scoreless outing since June 6 at Boston, 23 starts ago. Shields was equally as impressive  allowing just four hits and the lone run in 7 1-3 luckless innings.

King Felix is a stud of a pitcher and on a better team would have much better career numbers. Hernandez is 3-0 for his first time in his five year career but at 23 he has many more seasons ahead of him. The Mariners are off to a great start this year at 10-6. I’m thinking that soon enough some of these teams that are overachieving will come back down to earth.

Besides the Mariners great start the Marlins and Blue Jays are at the top of their divisions. Im going to guess that If any of these teams were to make the playoffs the Mariners have the best chance, mainly because of thier weak division. But hey what do   I know I picked the A’s to run away with the West and the Indians to win the Central.
