Becketts temper will cost him a 6 day suspension and a fine.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett was suspended for 6 days and fined after throwing at LA Angels outfielder Bobby Abreus head. After taking a long time time between pitches the Umpire granted Abreu a time out and Beckett was already in his wind-up, he followed thru with the pitch and it ended up coming close to Abreu’s head. Abreu over reacted a bit and had some words and motions for Beckett but the mistake came when Beckett took Aggressive actions coming toward Abreu causing the bench clearing brawl. Beckett has appealed the suspension “It’s what we’re taught to do,” Beckett said. “We have to kind of protect ourselves in those situations. That ball could have ended up anywhere, and that’s unfortunate where it ended up. That’s why I’m standing dealing with all this stuff.” “I don’t really feel like I’ve done anything,” Beckett said. “I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do. Am I supposed to give him a hug? I wasn’t really in a hugging mood right then. I really don’t know what he wanted me to do.” Well Josh perhaps if you you had stayed on the Mound and kept your mouth shut it would not have come to this. But you didn’t so now just take 6 days off ,pay your fine and move on. Beckett of course is appealing this decesion and will be able to pitch his next start. Watch the video, you be the judge.
